Sweet Chestnut is an abundant hardwood in the Kent and Sussex area - usually grown in stands for coppicing. It is hard to dry but once properly kiln dried - it produces a long steady burn, producing a consistent heat output. It burns with a sweet, nutty aroma and produces very little ash and tar. However, it can "spit" during the burning process - so it is not recommended for open fires, barbeques etc - but is a perfect choice for woodstoves.
All our firewood is supplied with a moisture content (throughout the log) below 20%.
We kindly encourage our customers to return the Jumbo bags to be recycled in order to reduce plastic waste.
